When we think about providing emotional support to a colleague or a loved one, it is usually at a remove from the source of their distress. We are helping them to process their feelings, come to a deeper understanding of a past event, and create a plan to move forward.
Sometimes, however, we are with people in the actual moment of distress. They may have injured themselves, received distressing news about someone they love, or they feel overwhelmed by what is happening in their life at that moment.
At times like these our natural helping instincts kick in, but the tools, techniques, and approaches that we use when helping a loved one to process an issue at distance are significantly different to what is needed to help someone who is distressed in the moment.
The Emotional First Aid Training Day is designed to teach you the tools, techniques, and approaches that are most helpful at these times of immediate distress. At the end of the training day not only will you know how to be a great mental and emotional support in the moment, you will also understand what to avoid in those moments so you don't make matters worse.
Fundraise for the Peaceful Heart Network
This training day is a fundraiser for the Peaceful Heart Network (PHN) who provide emotional support and first aid to people in distress all over the world. They have worked in more than 30 countries and their work has touched the lives of over 100,000 refugees, migrants, prisoners, and students.
More information about the PHN can be found at PeacefulHeart.se
It's a hybrid event
There are three ways in which you can participate in the Emotional First Aid Training Day:
Placide Nkubito: Placide is an accomplished communication officer at the Peaceful Heart Network in East Africa. With a passion for creating a peaceful society, he pioneered the training of trainers (ToTs) on stress and trauma relief at the network. As a trainer himself, Placide imparts communication and stress management skills to individuals and organizations, enabling them to cope with the challenges of stress and trauma. His contributions have been instrumental in promoting mental wellness, particularly in prison communities, refugees, survivors of genocide, healthcare givers, and social service providers.
Placide's work in promoting mental wellness is not limited to his professional obligations. He is an advocate for peaceful coexistence and regularly volunteers at community events and outreach programs to help individuals and communities manage their stress and trauma. Through his work, Placide has earned an impeccable reputation both as a trainer and as an advocate of mental wellness. His dedication to promoting the welfare of East Africa's communities and building a peaceful society has made him an inspiring mentor and leader in his field.
Jondi Whitis: Jondi loves energy work, from her beloved EFT to a host of Tapping adaptations that reflect years of practical hands-on training, mentoring and client work. She calls herself 'The People's Teacher' in honor of her commitment to making energy work accessible to all.
Jondi's body of work includes training for groups and individuals
seeking to use energy tools for healing, recovery from trauma, and personal transformation. She has a particular place in her professional life for humanitarian outreach and work with veterans, indigenous peoples, and teachers.
She is a longtime member of EFT International™, and a member of its Training and Accreditation Board, as well as ACEP's Humanitarian Committee, an original member of the EFT Guild, and the founder of the annual Spring Energy Event gathering.
